"How to outline a scene for a screenplay, beat-by-beat" - RynoRyder's Vl...

I'm currently writing a new screenplay and I am trying to document the various steps I go through to do it.  I want to showcase the amount of work that goes into crafting a well-told and entertaining story.

So far I've finished my rough outline for each scene, now I break down each scene into "beats."  This is so very important, because if a scene isn't entertaining, then you will lose the audience.  It's a laborious process, but I think 100% neccessary in order to tell a great story.

I would say 99% of "screenwriters," whether aspiring or working, don't put this much time and work into outlining their story beforehand, and that's why 99% of screenplays are garbage.

Ryan McCoy is a writer first, filmmaker second, entrepreneur third.  He has written and produced two feature films, and is beginning to expand out to give talks and share his experience with the next generation of young filmmakers.
